The Support Group has been around since 1995. The Group, consisting of a board of Trustees, is the driving force behind the fund raising events that enable Chaplin's to put on shows.

The support group works tirelessly to raise funds, running our Annual Fete at the Spinney Hill public house, holding raffles, dances, discos and lots of other events.

The Trustees, are all extreemely hard-working and totally dedicated to the boys and girls of Chaplins Stage School.

Hello to you all,

We, the support group, thought we should contact you to let you know what we are up to and also to inform Chaplins’ newer members about the role we play. The support group is made up of parents and grandparents of pupils and teachers in the school, and as a registered charity our aim is to support the school both physically and financially.

By raising funds we are able to help support the school by purchasing equipment, supplying costumes, props and music for shows including the hiring of the venues (i.e. The Deco). We recently purchased nearly £2000 worth of new gym equipment which has been so well received by the teachers and pupils.

One of the things that makes Chaplins different to most stage schools is that we operate on a weekly basis, so don’t charge fees in advance for a whole term, and pupils do not have to provide their own costumes for shows that they are performing in. The school and the support group aim to make dancing and performing affordable for most children and it is therefore essential that we continue to raise funds.

It is with great regret that we feel we need to inform you that the weekly costume fund fee will be raised from 50p to £1.00 on the first stage class after the Easter break. This is the first increase we have ever had to implicate in the 20 years that the school has been running. I’m sure you’ll agree that this fee and our ongoing fund raising is still a lot cheaper than you having to supply your own costumes, which for a show like Pure Magic could cost at least £250 per pupil!

With the “Pure Magic” show starting to take shape we need your help to boost our funds by another £7000 at least. Please support all our forthcoming events, raffles, mufti days, evening events (which in the past have been cancelled due to lack of support).

As a committee, it’s not only fund-raising that we get involved in, we can be found helping out on a weekly basis, with the daily running of the school, helping at events, exams and shows. We are on the look out for new committee members, so if you feel you would like to be part of this worthwhile charity please let us know. We also need adults to help at shows, fund-raising and help with prop making and sewing of costumes. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the non-committee members out there who already give up so much time and enthusiasm to support the school and help us to raise funds that benefit the children of Chaplins Stage School. 

We can’t tell you enough how important it is to attend our events and how appreciative not only the support group are but most importantly the children who these funds benefit!  So please keep your eyes open for details.
